Experience

I would like to be a tutor, especially in the IB subjects, because I know how challenging they can be and how useful it is to have someone to guide you through the process with former experience of the IB specifically. In addition, I would like a job next to my Bachelor and I want to work within the academic discipline and pass on the knowledge that I have to others in order to help them prepare for their future. Apart from my IB Diploma, I also did a number of extra curricular activities, such as setting up my own website and writing weekly articles about African news to promote a positive image of Africa in order to battle the constant negativity. I have written for the newspaper several times and I went to the MUN Conference in Nairobi with a selected group of students where we wrote resolutions and participated in serious debates. Also, with a group of students we coordinated a project with another school in the Netherlands where we designed and created a life-sized elephant in order to raise awareness about the current dangers and risk of eliminating elephants in Tanzania (where I lived). In other words, I was always interested in putting my energy and effort into different projects, whether they were creative, academic or sport-related, I am always in for a challenge!

Hobbies

Personally, I play the violin and I am a very active person. I love doing sports such as swimming, football, running, yet the balance with music is ideal as well. I like reading and writing, and I am considering starting a blog to further improve and polish my writing technique. I like working with children and I feel like I have strong study skills and a disciplined working style which allowed me to obtain the results I got. I understand the need to consider personal learning styles and I would be willing to discover what works best for each individual. I was often asked to help my classmates and I currently still receive essays or projects from former classmates or current students who ask me to read through their work and provide some advice. I like doing work like this because it still challenges me to think critically and I like seeing others succeed. A little guidance from someone that knows how it works can only be a benefit! I still have some of my old works as well from the IB which I can use as examples and show students what is or isn't required in certain subjects or what they should focus on. I am very keen to start working and I hope there is a match somewhere!
