Experience

PREVIOUS TUTORING EXPERIENCE Throughout my graduate studies I have been tutoring, in particular undergraduate Economics and University level maths. The tutoring work comprised preparing and holding seminars, grading written work as well as providing detailed feedback in 1:1 meetings. In 2012, I volunteered as an English teacher in China (Fuijan Province, Guangzhou) and held English classes for 14-16 year old students. Also, throughout high school and University studies I have been giving piano lessons - from entry level to more advanced level, in particular Chopin's work and Viennesse classicism. WHY DO I WANT TO BE A TUTOR I have always thoroughly enjoyed working with other students and trying to help them to understand involved matters - which is, in my opinion, often just a matter of structuring the material properly. But I am convinced that tutoring is not a one-way-street, over the years I have learned a great deal from my tutees about subjects that were previously unfamiliar to me. MISCELLANEOUS In addition to providing academic tutoring, I am also very happy to support students in the following: - University applications for the UK, in particular Oxford & Cambridge - the application process for Oxbridge is quite involved (written application, written test, interview) and often EU applicants are not fully aware of the complexity of the process which can constitute a disadvantage compared to UK applicants - Applications for work experience, in particular with consultancy firms. Having interned with the Boston Consulting Group I am familiar with the application and interviewing process at the top consultancy firms and more than happy to provide advice on how to approach the process
