Experience

I have over 10 years of tutoring experience and have consistently received very positive feedback from both students and parents. Over that time, I have supported young people across a range of subjects and learning styles, always aiming not only to improve grades but also to build confidence, motivation, and independent thinking. My academic background spans both the sciences and humanities. I studied at the University of Cambridge and completed an MPhil in Sociology, after an interdisciplinary undergraduate degree combining Law, Anthropology, and Politics. I have also received awards in psychology and biology in my early academic career, and independently completed the CREST Science Award. This breadth allows me to work well with students who need both strong subject knowledge and help with writing, critical thinking, and exam technique. What motivates me as a tutor is that I genuinely love education and working with young people. I care deeply about helping students feel capable, supported, and stretched in the right way. I bring patience, energy, and strong communication skills to my teaching, and I tailor lessons carefully to each student’s needs. Beyond tutoring, I have held major leadership and mentoring roles. I was elected Welfare and Community Sabbatical Officer at Cambridge Students’ Union, where I represented around 25,000 students, led welfare and policy initiatives, and worked across advocacy, strategy, and institutional change. I have also worked in leadership and partnerships roles, including as Managing Director of DirectEd Development Foundation. These experiences strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, build trust, and support young people from a wide range of backgrounds. I have a strong track record of helping students exceed expectations. For example, one student I tutored moved from the lowest maths set to finishing top of her class after a year of lessons with me. Another improved so significantly in English that he was nominated by his school for “most improved.” I take that responsibility seriously and bring genuine commitment to every student I work with.
