Education
Master of musicology Master of harpsichord Master of fortepiano Born in Tokyo, Mariko Goto started her modern piano studies in her earliest childhood. She encountered the early music, namely fortepiano and cembalo, in Tokyo University of the Arts (“Geidai”) and started to have lessons with Kikuko Ogura and Asami Hirosawa. After completing her Master degree of Musicology at the said university for her musical rhetoric studies about the “topos of improvisation in Haydn’s works”, she devoted herself to the performance of these instruments. In this context, she moved to Germany to study fortepiano and harpsichord performance under Christine Schornsheim in “Hochschule für Musik und Theater München”, and graduated with the highest score. After that she finished her Master degree with fortepiano in Royal Conservatoire the Haag with Bart van Oort. Since 2016 she has been pursuing a master’s degree in harpsichord at the Royal Concervatoire the Haag with Jacques Ogg and Patrick Ayrton (basso continuo). She has been an active performer in various concerts and recitals in Munich and Haag as forte pianist and cembalist. She also has been investing herself much to chamber music recitals as a member of a group named “Trio 106” and “Ensemble Röckel” which she organized with her colleagues of Royal Conservatoire of the The Hague.
Experience
I have 5 years of experience with teaching piano for children, adult, and always enjoyed to share music with my students. As I completed degrees of early music (historically informed performance), I would like to introduce this interesting area of classical music to young people or children, and broad their interest.
